JJ the 7 month old pit bull in question is in quarantine.
The 72-year-old victim is recovering from severe bites to her hands and face. She was walking her small dog in her own backyard when the pit bull attacked.
Neighbors have different opinions about the dog's owners and the pit bull in question. Sam Parker is a neighbor and friend to the owners of the pit bull. His son opened the door and the puppy bolted out the door, it's one of those weird things. I suppose it was a fluke. In my opinion it was a fluke a complete and total fluke,” said Parker. Other Neighbors have a different opinion. Kathy Shelton says the pit bull has been a well- known problem in the neighborhood. “The kids are always walking the dog up and down the street. It gets loose quite often. I have an eight year old daughter and she can't even ride her bike out here,” said Shelton.
The owner of the pitbull declined to speak with KGW. 41 year old Leo Hammer was cited for having a vicious dog at large. His dog is now in quarantine for 10 days. After that, it will be euthanized unless Hammer chooses to take this case to court and put the dogs fate into the hands of a judge.
