SALEM, Ore. -- Two teenagers were robbed and carjacked at gunpoint in Salem, and one of them struck with a bat, sheriffs said.

It happened on Monday at midnight in the 500 block of Elma Ave SE. Sheriffs said the two 19-year-olds were confronted by four other males with nylons over their heads, one of whom brandished a chrome-colored pistol.

The victims were told to get out of their car and lay on the ground. Their wallets and personal belongings were taken by the thieves, sheriffs said.

One of the victims was struck over the head with a small bat, according to sheriffs.

The four suspects left in the stolen vehicle, which was found abandoned a short time later in the 100 block of Stafford Lane NE.

The suspects were described as Hispanic males between 5’5” and 5’10” wearing dark-colored clothing. The suspect with the pistol may be between 16 and 18 years old with a shaved head and mustache.

Anyone with information on the carjacking is urged to call the Marion County Sheriffs Office at (503) 588-5032.
