HILLSBORO – A 35-year-old Hillsboro man was arrested Monday for raping a 15-year-old runaway from California, police said.

Robert Earl Hogan and the girl met via the Internet and she had traveled to Oregon two days earlier to meet Hogan, said Hillsboro Police Lt. Michael Rouches.

The girl had been staying with Hogan at his residence.

Hogan was lodged in the Washington County Jail with no bail. He had a prior rape charge for which he was on supervision by the parole department, according to police.

The victim was placed in protective custody pending return to California.
