A former first-grade teacher in Hillsboro was found guilty of stealing a student's ski jacket and trying to sell it on eBay.

Liz Logan was convicted Thursday of felony theft. She was scheduled to be sentenced November 20th on charges of theft and computer crime.

The third grade student left her $114 coat on the playground during recess.

Logan denied stealing the student’s jacket and has claimed police pressured her into confessing. She testified that when police came to interview her at school, they had already made up their minds that she was guilty, so she confessed.

Logan had also testified that when she saw fliers at school for a similar coat that was missing, she tried to stop the sale by talking a friend into bidding up the price of the coat so she could return it to school just in case it was the same one.

She recalled a conversation with the custodian.

"There were some parents who were upset, is this the same coat? I don't know, but if it is, I'll do everything I can to get it back," she said.

Police have said Logan changed her story.
