Runaway sex offender captured in Portland

HILLSBORO, Ore. -- Parole officers Wednesday said captured a sex offender who escaped state custody earlier this month.
Washington County deputies said Robert Kurt Jones was arrested Wednesday in Portland.
Jones was released from prison in August after serving more than 13 years. Police said he left the Washington County Community Corrections Center without authorization on September 5.

Detectives said Jones is an untreated sex offender with an extensive criminal history, including repeated abuse, force and attempted strangulation of a seven year old girl. Jones also has a history of burglary, stealing vehicles, driving while revoked and eluding police.
Police said he’s also known to abuse drugs and alcohol. Jones works in the construction industry and has family in Washington State.
