Pilot makes emergency landing in alfalfa field
07:26 AM PDT on Tuesday, July 1, 2008
PORTLAND, Ore. -- A small plane carrying two children made an emergency landing in a Washington County field after running out of fuel.
The sheriff's office says pilot Adam Heisi of Canby was headed from Aurora to Hillsboro when the plane ran out fuel. He landed the plane in a field of knee-deep alfalfa 100 yards south of Tualatin Valley Highway.
Heisi had two passengers -- his 6-year-old son and 1-year-old daughter. Everyone aboard escaped injury and the plane was not damaged.
Sgt. Bob Ray says there was minor damage to the crop.
