Head-on collision left man pinned in his van, rescuers said.
Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue was called to pry a man from the minivan after it was hit by the dump truck on SW Roy Rogers Rd.
Rescuers said the minivan was destroyed, crushing the dashboard on to the driver’s legs and trapping him inside the vehicle.
The van’s roof had to be pried back to get him out. Rescuers then had to remove the van’s doors, roof and dashboard, while another crew stabilized the victim by inserting an IV and administering oxygen.
About 45 minutes later he was safely extricated from the vehicle and taken via Life Flight helicopter to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland, police said.
The victim was expected to make a full recovery.
No charges were reported.
