HILLSBORO, Ore. -- A 23-year-old Hillsboro man has been sentenced to life in prison for his role in last year's stabbing death of Constantino Cruz.

Luis Alberto Gonzalez said Tuesday he wanted to have a higher court look at his case because he didn't get a fair trial.
Though Gonzalez did not plunge the knife into the victim's neck, a Washington County judge last week found him guilty of murder under the aid-and-abet theory.
The man who stabbed Cruz, Casimiro Blancas, was sentenced to life in prison last month. A third man is awaiting trial and authorities say others might also be charged.
Prosecutors say Blancas and fellow gang members sought to harm Cruz because he had punched Blancas during a fight outside a convenience store.
Cruz belonged to a rival gang.
