HILLSBORO, Ore. – The interior of a Hillsboro restaurant was destroyed in a fire Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Two Starbucks employees reported to work Wednesday morning just before 5 a.m. to find the building filled with smoke. The employees called 911 and reported that the business next door was filled with smoke and the glass was darkened.  

Firefighters arrived at the scene to find fire and smoke inside the Nice Rice restaurant.  Twenty-two fire fighters from the Hillsboro Fire Department and Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue quickly contained the blaze.

Three other business sustained smoke damage and Starbucks remained closed Wednesday to clean up the damage.  

Investigators determined the blaze started in the kitchen area.  The building does not have fire sprinklers and the blaze quickly destroyed the interior of the restaurant. Preliminary estimates put the loss at approximately $300,000, authorities said.

No one was injured.
