Hillsboro police accuse blood-smeared man of beating pit bull

HILLSBORO -- A beaten pit bull was taken to a vet as its owner was arrested for animal abuse Tuesday.

Neighbors called Hillsboro police to the home on NE Sunrise to report that 22-year-old Brandon Nagy had beaten the dog.
Officers said they found the dog in the garage with an injured head and tail.

According to investigators, Nagy told them he did not even have a dog, but later admitted the pit bull “Kahuna” was his. Police said he had blood smeared on his hands and shoes at the time.
Nagy was arrested for animal abuse, and felon in possession of weapons charges after police found a rifle in his home. Nagy has prior drug convictions.

Kahuna was treated at Dove Lewis Animal Hospital and later to the Washington County animal shelter.
