Hillsboro homicide may not have been a homicide at all
09:02 AM PST on Wednesday, February 27, 2008
HILLSBORO -- It's been five months since Jerry Pizano died in Hillsboro and police have yet to determine if he was the victim of a homicide or a horrible accident.
Gerardo Pizano-Arteaga
Police say 45-year-old Gerardo Pizano-Arteaga was found in the parking lot of a Hillsboro tavern in September. His skull was crushed, and he was declared legally dead the next day.

Police initially considered the death a homicide. But now they concede that Pizano's death might have been accidental. He may have, for example, been run over in the parking lot by a drunk driver.
Police have interviewed more than 100 people. Two detectives are now re-examining the evidence and studying autopsy reports.
But the uncertainty has been tough for Pizano's family. Pizano's sister, Angelica, told The Oregonian that the whole family is collapsing from the pain of not knowing.
