Wash. Co. Sheriff's Dept.
One man was killed in a head on collision on this icy Washington County road.
Fifty-year-old Brian Herinckx from Cornelius was killed in a head-on crash on N.W. Cornelius-Schefflin near N.W. Long Road when his pick up was struck head on by a Ford Mustang driven by 24-year-old Jose Louis Arroyo. Jr. from Cornelius.
A police investigation determined that the road was covered with black ice and Arroyo lost control of his vehicle, crossing the center line and striking the truck being driven by Herinckx head-on. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage. Arroyo had to be extricated from the vehicle. Herinckx was pronounced dead at the scene.
