A driver fired on another car along State Route 500 Tuesday night, in a terrifying case of road rage, police said.

The incident began near NE 112th Avenue and ended in the T.G.I. Friday parking lot just after 8 p.m.

Police said a simple lane change sparked the rage. The victim told investigators that she made a late lane-change so she wouldn’t miss her exit and accidentally cut off a white KIA.

That’s when she said the driver of the KIA suddenly pulled out a handgun and fired one round.

The bullet hit the woman’s car door, on the driver's side, but she was not injured and neither was her passenger.

She quickly pulled over and called 9-1-1.

Then, early Wednesday morning, police tracked down and arrested Christopher Partridge, 25, of Vancouver (pictured), thanks to a witness who had written down his license plate number.

Police said they also found the handgun inside Partridge's car.

Partridge was booked in jail on two charges of assault in the first degree.

Investigators said it’s lucky most road rage incidents don’t go this far.

“It doesn't happen often. A lot of threats of that, with the road rage incidents, but not some one actually going through with it,” said Brian Schaffer with the Vancouver Police Department.

Police spent much of the night collecting evidence and investigating exactly what happened.
