Two armed men rob Shari's Restaurant in Vancouver
03:55 PM PDT on Wednesday, May 21, 2008
VANCOUVER, Wash. – Two armed men robbed a Shari's Restaurant in Vancouver early Wednesday morning, police said.
The suspects entered the restaurant, located at 2100 SE 164th Avenue, about 5 a.m. armed with handguns and demanded money. They left in a vehicle driven by a third man, said Kim Kapp, spokeswoman for the Vancouver Police Department.
About eight minutes later, a Clark County deputy spotted the vehicle on Interstate 205, heading northbound. He chased the car and called surrounding police agencies for help.
Finally, the suspect vehicle stopped after driving over spike strips in Longview. All three suspects fled on foot but were captured several minutes later.
Police arrested 26-year-old Albert Youngblood, 36-year-old John Fitzpatrick and 33-year-old Samuel Ferguson of San Bernardino, Calif. for robbery, kidnapping, and unlawful possession of a firearm. Ferguson was also charged with trying to elude police.
Police credit the suspects’ capture with great teamwork by surrounding agencies including the Clark County Sheriff's Office, Washington State Patrol, Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office and the Police departments of Woodland, Longview, and Ridgefield.
