Victim chases car prowler, winds up in ravine
04:38 PM PDT on Thursday, May 15, 2008
VANCOUVER, Wash. – A man who chased a prowler trying to break into his car ended up in a ravine Thursday, police said.
It began when the victim witnessed a man attempting to break into his Lincoln Navigator, which was parked outside of his office building.
The victim confronted the suspect, who fled in a Ford Explorer. The victim chased the suspect and eventually rammed the Explorer with his Navigator, causing the Navigator to slide into a ravine, police said.
The victim was transported to SW Washington Medical Center. Neither his name nor the extent of his injuries was released.
The suspect fled the area in the Explorer, which was located a few minutes later, unoccupied, in the 2500 block of SE Baypoint Drive.
Witnesses reported seeing the suspect running away. Police were not able to find him.
