Police investigate the deadly crash scene.
The woman’s 10-year old son was also in the car, but survived the crash that happened just after 4 p.m., about eleven miles east of Arlington.
Police said Heather Shrum, 33, of Spokane, Wash., was driving her Subaru Forester eastbound on I-84 when she veered right for an unknown reason near milepost 148. Investigators said she hit the gravel shoulder, apparently over-corrected to the left and lost control.
“The Subaru rolled several times on the roadway and down an embankment in the center median area between the eastbound and westbound lanes,” said Sgt. Julie Wilcox, with Oregon State Police.
Other recent crashes:
Shrum and her daughter, Lacy Fry died at the scene. Her son, Bailey Fry, was transported by ambulance to the Mid Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles with injuries but he was expected to survive, Wilcox said.
Everyone in the car had been wearing seat belts.
The investigation continues.
