Cop runs over fellow officer's foot during chase
10:30 AM PDT on Thursday, April 10, 2008
A motorcycle cop was injured while chasing down a suspect in Vancouver Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The chase started with the suspect in a car and the officer on a motorcycle just after 1 p.m. near the intersection of E Evergreen Hwy and NE Andresen Rd. The officer tried to stop the driver for speeding, but he fled.
The chase went through a construction zone and eventually onto Blandford Drive and McArthur Blvd. where the suspect crashed into a pole and then fled on foot.
The officer continued to chase the suspect, later identified as Michael Treadway, 38, of Vancouver, on his motorcycle, until he reached a gully.
That’s when the officer got hurt.
Police said he was trying to park his motorcycle when another officer in a patrol car slid into the grass near him and ran over his foot.
The officer, whose name has not been released, was transported to SW Washington Medical Center where he was treated and released.
Meantime, Treadway was eventually captured by other officers near the intersection of Manzanita Way and Oregon Drive.
He was arrested and charged with attempting to elude, hit and run and driving with a suspended license.
