Gov. Gregoire to campaign in Vancouver Monday
08:05 AM PDT on Monday, April 7, 2008
AUBURN, Wash. -- Gov. Gregoire starts a re-election tour Monday in Auburn where she started her first campaign for governor. Gregoire is heading into a rematch with Republican Dino Rossi.
The tour will take her to Tacoma, Vancouver, Yakima, the Tri-Cities, Spokane, Bremerton, Port Townsend, Everett and Seattle. Campaign spokeswoman Debra Carnes says she'll be talking about health care, education, job training, the environment, public safety and the business climate.
Rossi says Gregoire has failed on the issues that matter most in Washington: state spending, traffic congestion, crime and education. The former Senate budget chairman says the state budget has grown by a third on Gregoire's watch and the state faces a $2 billion deficit next year.
Gregoire beat Rossi by 133 votes in their first race, after three counts.
