A Ridgefield family is dealing with a double whammy.

In one week Jenapher Dues and Tony McCullough were hit by an unexpected job layoffs -- then by car thieves.

"It breaks my heart, because we work really hard."

On Friday morning, at about 7 p.m., the family heard noise outside their Ridgefield home. They assumed it was the garbage company making its weekly pick up. It turns out, they were actually hearing several car thieves in their driveway.

McCullough is dumbfounded.

"Both cars stolen right out of the driveway, I couldn't believe it!" Thieves made off with a red and gold 1993 Jeep Cherokee and a periwinkle blue 2000 Toyota Camry.

The fact that the gas tanks were empty, slowed the thieves' getaway.

Clark County sheriff's deputies say the car thieves left the McCullough home and drove to a nearby gas station, where they met up with friends in yet another stolen car.

Because the group acted so suspiciously at the gas station, a witness called police.

Late Monday afternoon Clark County deputies recovered the Jeep. McCullough says it appears the car thieves were organized.

He says investigators recovered a critical piece of evidence inside a stolen car.

"He (the deputy) pulled out a freezer bag with keys of every make and model. There were one hundred or two hundred keys, or more," McCullough said.

McCullough says the keys made it possible for thieves to break into and drive away in his family's vehicles.

The car has Washington plates 447 KSS.

If you have information in this case, call the Clark County Sheriff's Office.
