VANCOUVER, Wash. -- A man was taken to the hospital with head injuries after trying to rush back into a burning home to save his dog Monday.

Clark County Fire & Rescue said the fire happened at the home on NE North Fork Avenue north of La Center just before 9 a.m.

The man told firefighters he got outside after the fire started, but realizing his dog was inside, ran back in and grabbed the pup.
