The owner of an embattled southwest Portland convenience store may get a second chance.

A last-minute deal may save Peterson’s, a convenience store on southwest Morrison Street that police say attracted loitering drug users and drunks.
Background: Peterson's troubled past
The deal would be contingent on several conditions, including that the store owner provide on-site security while the store is open. The owner, store managers and store security personnel will be required to attend monthly meetings with police and report all crime committed in front of, or inside, the store.
Portland Mayor Tom Potter opposed the deal, but city Commissioners Dan Saltzman supports it.
This resolution was filed Thursday. It’s on the Portland City Council agenda for next Wednesday. Saltzman is hopeful he has the support needed to push the deal through.
