Police make quick work of fire rescue in Salem
09:15 AM PDT on Thursday, October 9, 2008
PORTLAND -- A Salem family was pulled from their burning home by police officers early Thursday morning.
Salem police received a report that a home at 3847 Helen Ave. had flames shooting from the garage about 12:45 a.m.
Police were able to pull a woman to safety through a window. Officers then had to enter the house to rescue her two teenage sons and family pets.
Two officers, Jared Noack and Sgt. Tony Moore re-entered the home twice to locate the boys, but reached them before they were seriously injured.
The two boys suffered some smoke inhalation but will be OK, according to Salem police.
