MOUNT ANGEL, Ore. -- A Mt. Angel gym teacher was arrested on accusations he had sex with teenage students at Kennedy High School.

On Tuesday Mt. Angel Police arrested 35-year-old Colby Lee Molan for official misconduct and third degree sex abuse.

He was accused of having contact with that student numerous times at the school, in addition to having sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl. Molan is a phy-ed and health teacher at Kennedy High.

Molan was taken to the Marion County jail. The school put him on administrative leave during the investigation.

A statement from district superintendent Bob young was released Wednesday.

“Our district staff and school board take reports involving misconduct very seriously and will act quickly as possible in the best interest of everyone involved … While this is a personnel matter that limits our ability to provide more specific details, we are taking appropriate action with Mr. Molan and will make sure our education program continues without interruption.”

The district said it would offer counseling services to students in addition to conducting its own investigation.

"Appropriate action includes following all District and state rules and laws regarding staff discipline, while protecting Mr. Molan's privacy rights," the statement read.

Before working as a teacher, Molan for a brief period was a Salem police officer, but did not complete training.
