09:59 AM PDT on Tuesday, April 22, 2008
KEIZER, Ore. -- Police arrested a Seattle man after a chase and carjacking on I-5 near Keizer Monday afternoon.
According to police, 51-year-old Desa Haraway said a man flagged her down on the Donald off ramp around 1:30 p.m. and forced his way into her car as she rolled down her window.
Haraway told detectives the man beat her then took off in the car.
An Oregon State Trooper soon spotted the Ford Explorer driving recklessly on Brook Lake Road near Brooks. Police set up spike strips and the SUV crashed into two other cars before stopping at a curb.
Troopers said 31-year-old Don Marlow of Seattle tried to flee the scene on foot but police were able to catch him and make an arrest.
He was charged with robbery, theft, assault, unlawful use of a vehicle, eluding police, reckless driving and criminal mischief.
Haraway was treated for minor injuries.
