Salem man killed in car accident on Hwy. 22

SALEM – A 69-year-old Salem man was killed in a car accident on Highway 22 Wednesday night, police said.

Gerald Freerksen and his wife Linda had been driving eastbound on Hwy. 22 when they were rear-ended by another vehicle, according to Salem Police Lt. Steve Birr.
The driver that crashed into the couple’s vehicle was identified as Nicholas Miller, 23.
No arrests have been made and the crash remains under investigation.
The accident happened just east of Interstate 5.
