Former DOJ employee accused of stealing child support cash

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Police arrested a former Department of Justice employee and her fiance for allegedly stealing more than $10,000 intended for child support payments.

Cynthia Woodward, 50, and Glenn Huiett Jr., 54, both from Keizer, were arrested Friday following an five-month investigation.

Woodward was an accounting technician for the state's division of child support, which allowed her access to child support payment accounts managed by the state. Her job was to help find addresses for those individuals who had undeliverable payments.

Police said she was able to access the money by sending debit cards linked to the child support accounts to false addresses, which the couple would use.

Bank camera footage showed the couple withdrawing the money from area ATMs last fall and at Spirit Mountain Casino during an eleven day period in June 2007.
