Russel Sisson as shown in a photo from family members.
Russell Sisson’s wife told investigators that he called her last Wednesday and said he was driving home from the coast. But he never came home, so she filed a missing person report.
Then, two days later, a deputy found Sisson’s vehicle on Hwy 34 near the Five Rivers area.
Deputies searched Sisson’s vehicle and also the surrounding area for any clues but found nothing significant at first.
Then, search and rescue teams joined the search. On Friday, they spotted footprints that may have been made by the type of shoes which Sisson wears.
Police said the footprints were on the opposite side of the river and investigators said it appeared as though a person had slid down the embankment, possibly falling into the water.
Teams then expanded their search to a stretch of the Alsea River, between Five Rivers and Blackberry campground.
But still, no sign of Sisson, who is 44.
Police said the search would continue with underwater sonar gear.
