Two men shot inside Woodburn laundromat
10:41 AM PST on Friday, February 8, 2008
WOODBURN -- At least two suspected gang-bangers are in jail and two men are in the hospital after a shooting at a Woodburn Laundromat Thursday night.
Police believe Reynaldo Zamora, 24, of Woodburn was the intended target inside the laundromat. He was shot several times in his chest and was rushed to Salem Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
The other shooting victim, Michael Variano, 46, also of Woodburn, was an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire, according to investigators. He was shot in the legs and taken to Oregon Health and Science University, also in serious condition.
Police followed clues all night and eventually arrested two brothers, Rodrigo Legaria and Isidoro Legaria. Crystal Barson, girlfriend of Rodrigo Legaria, was later arrested. All were charged with Attempted Murder. Other criminal charges are pending. Police said the 17 and 19-year-old brothers were members of a gang that may have intentionally targeted Zamora because he belonged to a rival gang.
Police said both victims were expected to survive.
