The victim, 29-year-old Bobby Lee Burns of Clackamas, was being treated at a local hospital for a fractured skull. At last check, Detective Jim Strovink with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office said Burns was expected to be in surgery for at least six hours. Strovink described the injuries to Burns head as "devastating".

Deputies responded to a fight between two men at the Winco Foods parking lot, at 11250 SE 82nd Blvd., early Wednesday morning, but were unable to chase down the fleeing suspect.

Witnesses told the deputies the attacker hit Burns in the head with an axe or something that resembled an axe.

Authorities described the suspect as a light-skinned Hispanic male, estimated to be 25-years-old, balding, with a goatee and extensive tattoos on both forearms. He was about 5'6" tall, weighed around 150 pounds, and was last seen wearing a white shirt and blue jeans.

Investigators were not sure why the two men got into a fight, but according to a report from the Clackmas Co. Sheriff's Office, the two men may have gotten into an earlier scuffle at the nearby Harmony Inn.

Crime Stoppers offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.

Dective Strovink urged anyone with information to contact the Clackmus County Sheriff's Office at 503-723-4982.
