Two men found guilty in Asia Bell's drive-by murder
07:18 AM PST on Tuesday, March 4, 2008
After four days of jury deliberation, two men were found guilty Monday in a Portland drive-by murder cold case.
It was November 2002 when Asia Bell, her husband Tyrone James and Robert Milhouse were gunned down on a front porch near North Mississippi and Jessup. Police described them as victims of random violence.
Bell, who was a young mother, was shot 8 times. Her husband's injuries left him blinded.
Alexander Klein, 38, and Deprince Hale, 30, were charged with murder with a firearm, two counts of attempted aggravated murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
On Monday, they were found guilty on all counts. They will be sentenced on May 15th and could face life in prison.
“Don’t give up… we’re glad it came out this way," said Barbara Walsh, a relative of Bell's.
The victim's mother, Perlia Bell, became an anti-violence community activist after the shooting.

Sonja Elaine Hutchens, 26, was accused of conspiracy to commit murder and several lesser crimes, and confessed to being part of the plot. She helped turn over evidence in the case.
Police also took Rico Gonzales, 34, into custody in connection with the case on federal crack cocaine charges, police said.
