A well-known national magazine ranked Bend as the best place in Oregon to raise kids.

Hillsboro and Springfield were runners up.

Newsweek Magazine looked at several factors when making the ranking, including quality of schools, affordability, cost of living, access to local parks, air quality and safety.

This was the magazine’s second annual “Best Places in America to Raise Kids” issue and it arrived on store shelves this week.
