Employee admits he robbed Bend KFC
08:01 AM PDT on Friday, September 7, 2007
BEND, Ore. -- Bend police say a robbery at a Kentucky Fried Chicken this week was done by the worker who called 911 about the robbery.
The KFC is on Highway 97 in Bend.
Police say 23-year-old Michael Russell, of Bend, had told police the KFC he worked at was robbed. Russell told police a man pulled up to his drive up window and displayed a gun.
Russell says the man demanded money and Russell complied. He told police the suspect left in an unknown direction.
Bend detectives re-interviewed Russell yesterday. And the worker admitted he had taken the money and he had falsely reported the robbery to 911.
Detectives recovered about half of the money that was stolen by Russell. He has been arrested and cited to appear in Deschutes County Circuit Court.
