09:13 AM PDT on Friday, August 17, 2007

Associated Press

PRINEVILLE, Ore. -- Deputies from the Crook County sheriff's office have seized nine severely neglected horses from a Prineville woman.

Authorities had received a report of horses being neglected and got a warrant for the seizure of the horses.

Deputy Travis Jurgens says nine horses varying in size, age and breed were seized. All the horses have varying medical issues.

The 43-year-old owner, Jennifer Debban, was cited on nine counts of animal neglect.

The Equine Outreach Horse Rescue, a nonprofit organization, assisted in the placement and care of the seized horses.
