Bend arsonist judged guilty, but insane
07:45 AM PDT on Thursday, August 2, 2007
BEND, Ore. -- A man accused of setting fire to his parents' house was found guilty except for insanity this week on charges of arson and criminal mischief.
A Deschutes County judge sentenced Bradley Farnand, 26, to the jurisdiction of the state Psychiatric Security Review Board for 20 years.
The parents were away in April when the fire destroyed the 34-year-old house in the Saddleback subdivision. Losses were estimated at $800,000 to the home and its contents.
Prosecutors said Farnand lived part-time in Bend and in the Willamette Valley.
