Bend man accused of trying to kill his wife

BEND, Ore. -- Police arrested a Bend man accused of a kicking his wife and striking her with a gun.
Bend police Lt. Ben Gregory says a SWAT team took Jesse W. Patterson into custody after negotiations failed to persuade him to leave his house Sunday.
The 40-year-old was lodged at the Deschutes County Jail on charges of assault, menacing, attempted murder, unlawful use of a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm.
An ambulance took his wife to the hospital, where she was treated for broken bones in her face.
