Virus attack exposes data of Central Oregon hospital donors
12:24 PM PST on Thursday, March 6, 2008
PORTLAND, Ore. -- A computer virus attack may have exposed the personal information of more than 11,000 people who donated to a Central Oregon hospital system.
Cascade Healthcare Community says a computer virus attack hit its system in December, and the company noticed suspicious activity in the system in February. A computer forensics expert confirmed the virus had caused the breach.
This hospital system says the names, dates of birth and potentially the credit card numbers of the donors were exposed. It says no patient information was compromised.
Hospital officials say they are working with Bend police for further investigation.
