Skier hits tree, dies at Mt. Bachelor

A 27-year-old male skier from the Bend area died Sunday after striking a tree while skiing a southwest slope of Mount Bachelor.
At about 12:31 p.m., Deschutes County 911 Dispatch received a report of a skier that had hit a tree.
Citizens and Mount Bachelor Ski Patrol personnel attempted to revive the victim with CPR without success and he was declared deceased at the location of the accident.

An initial investigation indicated that the victim was downhill skiing with friends when he hit uneven terrain and went out of control, hitting a large tree. The victim's name was not immediately released.
