Nike and Pendleton collaborate on new shoe

Made-in-Oregon fans will be excited to know that Nike Inc. and Pendleton Woolen Mills have teamed up on a new sneaker.

The Nike X Pendleton Air Mowabb is a redesign of a shoe originally created by Tinker Hatfield in 1991. Though Nike and Pendleton have worked together before, this is the first time Pendleton has created a fabric with the Nike wordmark on it, which is displayed prominently on the toe of the shoe.

It's a shoe that makes sense for Oregonians' outdoorsy side, too: it's designed to be a cross-trainer for outdoor adventure sports like climbing and hiking. Hatfield, who was inspired by the city and sights of Moab, Utah, also intended for the shoe to create a smaller footprint — literally.

Jay Gordon, founder of Boston boutique Bodega, had the idea to combine the two companies' products in this new iteration of the shoe. Limited numbers of the shoe will be sold at his store, as well as at ComplexCon in Long Beach, Calif., and on Nike.com between Nov. 9 and Nov. 14.
