Everett's Patrick Bajkov scored the lone goal of the first period at the 16:19 mark for a 1-0 lead.

The Hawks bounced back early in the second, when Evan Weinger scored on a power play 1:45 into the second, his first career goal, for a 1-1 tie. Weinger then struck again at the 5:10 mark on a shot from the right faceoff circle as he staked the Hawks to a 2-1 lead.

Portland extended the lead to 3-1 on a power play at the 7:42 mark when Chase De Leo took advantage of Alex Schoenborn screening netminder Carter Hart, and fired it to the top corner. Everett made a goaltending change at that point, replacing Hart with Austin Lotz.

The Silvertips responded with goals from Noah Juulsen, a pair from Graham Millar, Kevin Davis and Carson Stadnyk as they took a 6-3 lead into the third.

After Adin Hill took over in net for Portland to begin the third, the Hawks got back within two when Anton Cederholm scored on a blast from the point at the 13:09 mark to make it 6-4. The Hawks pressed, but could get no closer as Everett finished with the win.

Portland was again without Oliver Bjorkstrand, who was reassigned earlier in the day by the Columbus Blue Jackets but not back in time for the game, and Nic Petan, who remains with the Winnipeg Jets during NHL preseason play.
