Woman rams three Washington Co. patrol cars after pursuit, deputies say

Deputies and Forest Grove police officers were called just before 4 a.m. to the 7000 block of Highway 47, where a woman said she was being chased by another driver who was trying to ram her car.

FOREST GROVE, Ore. -- A police pursuit early Tuesday morning ended with the suspect ramming three Washington County patrol cars, according to the sheriff's office.

The suspect, 38-year-old Crystal Dale Elliott, was taken into custody.

After being checked out at a hospital, Elliott was arrested and lodged at the Washington County Jail on three counts of first-degree attempted assault, assault on a peace officer, third-degree assault, attempt to elude, two counts of first-degree criminal mischief, and reckless driving.

Deputies and Forest Grove police officers were called just before 4 a.m. to the 7000 block of Highway 47, where a woman said she was being chased by another driver who was trying to ram her car.

Deputies say the disturbance stemmed from a domestic dispute, where the victim had the suspect's boyfriend in the car with her, along with another woman and a dog.

The suspect took huge risks to try to get to them along Highway 47, police said.

"At one point the suspect pulled into the oncoming lane of traffic, pulled up beside them, almost got hit by a semi truck," said Washington County Sheriff's Deputy Jeff Talbot. "She then tried to ram them from behind and then she got into the bike lane on the other side of the vehicle and pulled up beside them in the other vehicle, again at 70 to 80 miles per hour."

When officers and deputies arrived and tried to stop the suspect, she fled. She led deputies down a dead end road outside of Forest Grove and then turned head on at deputies and rammed three patrol cars.

One deputy suffered minor injuries.

"They estimate that she rammed his vehicle at 30 to 40 miles per hour head on, so it could have been a lot worse, and though it’s unfortunate one of our deputies was injured, we’re glad that he’s able to be home right now and resting," Talbot said.

Elliott was already wanted on a drug-related felony probation violation out of Tillamook County and another warrant in Washington County.
