PORTLAND, Ore. -- The National Weather Service has issued a high wind advisory that starts at noon Wednesday and last until 11 p.m.
Beaches and headlands can expect to see sustained winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 65 mph. Coastal cities will see gusts to about 55 mph. The peak period for the high winds will be 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The weather service has also issued gale warnings for the Oregon Coast and a small craft advisory for rough bar conditions at the mouth of the Columbia River.
The gale warnings for the central Oregon Coast take effect at 2 p.m. Wednesday and continue until 9 a.m. Thursday. South winds will be 25 to 35 mph with gusts around 45 mph possible Wednesday evening.
Gale warnings for the north coast will remain in effect until 11 p.m. Wednesday.
The bar advisory takes effect Wednesday afternoon and lasts through 6 a.m. Thursday.
