Skiers with plans to kick off the season at Mount Hood Meadows this weekend will have to wait a little longer.
Mount Hood Meadows had planned to open ski lifts on Friday but warm, wet rain derailed those plans.
The base area has a snow depth of 13 inches but there's not enough snow in the two-day forecast for Meadows to run lifts this weekend.
However, staff are optimistic lifts will open next weekend.
"There’s a snowy forecast next week and we have the benefit of already having a base to build on. Hopefully by next weekend we will have lifts operating," said V.P. of Communications Dave Tragethon.
This winter will be the 50th season of skiing on Mount Hood Meadows.
