Two dogs were killed in a house fire in Sherwood

SHERWOOD, Ore. – Two dogs were killed in a Sherwood house fire Saturday morning.

The fire in the 22400 block of Southwest Meissinger Place was reported just before 6 a.m.

The couple who owned the home and a guest got out safely. However, two dogs were not able to make it out and died, according to Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue.

When firefighters arrived, the garage was fully engulfed by the fire and flames were coming out of the windows of the house. The fire was under control within 50 minutes of it being reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, although investigators believe it started in the garage.

The house did not have a fire sprinkler system and will likely be a total loss, TVF&R said.
