PORTLAND, Ore. – A 5-month-old puppy has been reunited with his family after he went missing earlier this week.

Jedi, a Yorkshire Terrier, was inside a 1992 Honda Civic when it was stolen Monday from a garage at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center.

Washington County sheriff’s deputies found the car abandoned at the Cedar Hills Shopping Center in Beaverton Wednesday morning. Jedi was not inside.

But the day prior, Olivia Mohr's father, Brian Graham, who owns Doggie Day Camp in Clackamas, was near Southeast 123rd Avenue and Powell Boulevard in Portland when he spotted a dog in what Graham called the wrong hands.

"I go 'Is this your dog?' 'Oh yeah it's my dog.' 'How long have you had it?' 'A while.' 'What's his name?' 'Oh, I haven't named it yet.' That got me more suspicious," Graham said.

He had a bad feeling and offered to the buy the dog for a measly $50.

"Who wants to sell their dog?" Graham asked. "So he wanted to sell it right away. We negotiated, he got me a receipt and the next day I saw a dog missing."

Graham was watching KGW when he realized the dog he bought off the street was Jedi. So he contacted KGW, and authorities who gave Jedi's owner, Mary Wilcox, the good news.

"It's a miracle to me," said Wilcox. "What are the chances of getting your car back? What are the chances of your getting your dog back? I just felt like it was needles in haystacks to even hope for."

Graham and Mohr will certainly miss the dog they barely got to know. But they're glad he's back where he belongs.

"My heart is beating so fast," Mohr said. "I'm so anxious to reunite them. That's all I want to do."

Investigators are still searching for two suspects who they believe stole Jedi and Wilcox's vehicle.

Surveillance video shows the suspects were inside a white SUV when it was seen stopping next to the stolen Honda. One suspect got out and opened the Honda. Both suspects left the garage in separate vehicles.
