THURSDAY, Sept. 16:

Mt. Angel Octoberfest

Oregon's oldest and best-loved Oktoberfest began in 1966 as a traditional harvest festival to celebrate the bounty of the earth and the goodness of creation. It is Oregon's largest folk festival. The party begins on Thursday, September 16, at 11 a.m. and runs through Sunday. It will include continuous live music on four stages, free kids rides and shows, street dancing and over 50 food chalets, among other highlights. Mt. Angel Octoberfest

FRIDAY, Sept. 17:

PARK(ing) Day

On Friday, September 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Metro and the Lloyd Transportation Management Association (TMA) will transform parking spaces on Northeast Eighth Avenue and Northeast Multnomah Street into a relaxing park celebrating biking and walking. These efforts are part of a worldwide event called PARK(ing) Day that inspires city dwellers to turn metered parking spots into temporary parks for a day and encourages people who would normally be driving to walk or take public transportation. Free Bike Tour and Lunch

Kimpton's Hotel Monaco in Portland will be hosting a lunch bike ride to see some of the city's best parks-for-a-day on September 17th. At noon, Portland's Pedal Bike Tours will lead the 45-minute family-friendly bike ride, and Red Star Tavern & Roast House will provide a pulled pork sandwich lunch. Silverton’s Septoberfest

Septoberfest has been a tradition in Silverton, Ore. since 2010. This year, it will run from Friday through Sunday, on the grounds of the Seven Brides Brewing Tap Room. The outdoor festival will showcase the best of local restaurants, breweries, wineries and entertainment for the entire family. Proceeds will benefit SACA (Silverton Area Community Aid), the Silverton Volunteer Fire Association and the Silver Fox Foundation Scholarship Fund. Silverton’s Septoberfest

SATURDAY, Sept. 18:

Portland Pirate Festival

The Portland Pirate festival will mark its fifth anniversary celebration with a fleet of new entertainers and a push to re-claim the Guinness World Record™ from the brits! The festival will begin on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Cathedral Park under the St. John’s Bridge and end at 6 p.m. Sunday, which is also Talk Like a Pirate Day! Portland Pirate Festival

Beaverton Parade & Old Town Festival

The 53rd Annual Beaverton Celebration Parade and Old Town Festival will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 18 and travel through the city of Beaverton. The parade route begins at Beaverton Christian Church on SW Allen Boulevard at SW Menlo Drive, turns north onto SW Erickson Avenue, east on SW 5th Street, north again on SW Watson and then onto Broadway and into Old Town Beaverton. SUNDAY, Sept. 19:

Portland Race for the Cure

The annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure will be filling the streets of downtown Portland with runners and walkers and a sea of pink Sunday.  The race series spans the country and raises significant funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer. It also celebrates breast cancer survivors and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.  The Portland event is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m., with a staggered start at Tom McCall Waterfront Park. Arabs Gone Wild Standup Comedy Tour

The Arabs Gone Wild Standup Comedy Tour is coming to Portland for the first time, for one night only on Sunday, September 19 at The Aladdin Theater. The popular shows already sold-out in Washington DC, San Francisco, Anaheim and LA. Co-headliners and Arab-American comedians Dean Obeidallah, Aron Kader, and Maysoon Zayid, plus special guest Jimmy Goson will entertain fans.
