PORTLAND -- The Beavers kickoff will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, and the Ducks 45 minutes later and this means a colossal amount of traffic on Interstate 5 between Portland and Eugene.

Between Autzen and Reser stadiums, some 100,000 fans will wind their way down the Willamette Valley. ODOT estimates that the fans will add about 25,000 vehicles to the freeway.

In past years when both teams played at the same time, backups were at the I-5 and I-205 interchange, through Salem and through Albany. Expect heavy traffic from about 10 a.m.  to 3 p.m. and throughout the late afternoon and early evening Saturday.

Adding to the mix will be people headed to the Mount Angel Oktoberfest.

Oregon State Police have these reminders. Behave. Obey the speed limits, especially through several construction zones.
