PORTLAND – A dinner for 700 was held Sunday to honor 19 Oregon chefs on the eve of the “the Oscars of the food world” nominee announcement.
A sold-out crowd at the Multnomah Athletic Club was treated to small plates from the state’s most celebrated chefs, along with drinks from Oregon microbrews, wineries and distilleries.
The event raised funds for the James Beard Foundation’s Northwest Culinary Arts Scholarship, which benefits Oregon Culinary Institute students .
Nominees for The James Beard Foundation Awards, among the country’s most coveted culinary honors, were expected to be announced at a press conference Monday morning.
Five Oregon chefs have won the James Beard award and 14 have been nominated.
