TriMet offering free bus, MAX rides on New Year's Eve

For anyone who drinks too much tonight, TriMet will provide free bus and MAX service beginning at 8 p.m. New Year's Eve.

In addition, TriMet will provide extra service on MAX Blue and Yellow light rail lines, which will run more often and later into the evening for late-night revelers. Buses will run on regular weekday schedules.

Blue & Yellow MAX service:

•Trains will run every 15 minutes until 1 a.m.

•Trains will run every 30 minutes between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m.

MAX Red Line:

•Trains will run on the regular weekday schedule with service every 15 minutes between Beaverton Transit Center and Portland International Airport.

•After the last Red Line to the airport leaves Gateway Transit Center at 11:10 p.m., a shuttle will meet Blue Line trains at Gateway Transit Center to take riders to the Parkrose/Sumner Transit Center and the airport until 3 a.m.

Also: Funeral home tries to stop New Year's deaths

By New Year's Day, TriMet MAX and buses will run on Sunday schedules. Regular fares will apply.
