The kraze came to Oregon Tuesday, when a neon sign flashed the
long-awaited “Hot now” and the state’s first Krispy Kreme doughnut
outlet opened its doors.
As of 10 p.m. on it's first day of operation, spokeswoman Angie
Galimanis said more than 8,000 dozen doughnuts had been served to 6,000
customers.
The first two customers into the Clackamas shop on SE 82nd Ave. at 5:30
a.m. had been waiting in line since Sunday. By early Tuesday morning, a
line of several dozen dough-nuts was working its way closer to the
counter.
The store lobby will be open from 5:30 a.m. to midnight. The drive-thru will stay open 24 hours a day.
Nathan Hellard was among a lip-licking crowd of doughnut fans that had camped out for the store’s grand opening. After finishing off a glazed doughnut, he said it was worth it.

“I don’t think anything could have gone better,” he said. “It was perfect, the weather was beautiful. They handed (the doughnut) right off the tray. I think it had just passed under the glazer and they picked it off with a utensil and handed it straight to me. It was wonderful.”
For 111 days, a lighted sign had ticked off the time until the Krispy Kreme store would open on Southeast 82nd Avenue. The store’s general manager, Josh Goodman, said he expected an extremely busy opening day, similar to grand openings in other states.
Krispy Kreme operates more than 290 stores in 39 U.S. states, Canada and Australia. The company estimates it makes 7.5 million doughnuts every day, or more than 2.7 billion every year.
