Snow could deter some holiday camping trips in Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. -- Plenty of Oregonians are heading for the outdoors over the holiday weekend.
But backcountry campers could find themselves stopped in their tracks, by snow.
It's hard to believe, given the recent run of hot weather.
But snow and ice and still lingering on some mountain roads and campgrounds.
That's because of all that snow we got last winter, well over 200 percent of normal in the Cascade Range.
At popular Waldo Lake in the Willamette National Forest, for example, a series of snow drifts between two and four feet high is blocking campground access.
Boaters, though, are in luck: Thanks to all that snow, lakes and reservoirs are full and running high.
